EVANSTON, Ill. " The Pepperdine women's soccer team rebounded from a tough loss to pick up a hard-fought 1-0 win at defending Big 10 Champions Northwestern on Sunday afternoon.

The Waves fell at DePaul 1-0 on Friday despite dominating the run of play, but showed no ill-effects against a strong Northwestern side on Sunday, getting a goal from Christina Settles (Oceanside, Calif./Oceanside HS) and a solid performance in goal from Brielle Preece (Livermore, Calif./Granada HS) for the win. The victory moves Pepperdine to 4-2-1 on the year while the Wildcats fall to 3-3-1.

Settles tallied her first goal of the season in the 26th minute and the Waves' defense held on from there, posting the fourth shutout of the year for Pepperdine.
