Wilson, who picked up his sixth loss of the year, gave up two runs in the fifth inning, but also had five strikeouts in his outing. Ponticelli, who improves to 3-1 on the year, went 8.0 innings, giving up no runs.

San Francisco scored two runs on a single in the bottom of the fifth inning and added an unearned run off of the Pepperdine bullpen in the eighth. The Waves were unable to push across a run on the day, leaving six runners on.

The Waves will take on the Dons again on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the second game of the series. Sophomore Jonathan Pendergast (San Diego, Calif./Catherdral Catholic HS) is expected to start for the Waves.
