
Seven Beach Student-Athletes Named WCC All-Academic

MALIBU, Calif. " Seven student-athletes highlighted the third-ranked Pepperdine beach volleyball team's representation on the West Coast Conference All-Academic team, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday. Delaney Knudsen, Corinne Quiggle and Madalyn Roh all earned first team acclaim.
Along with the three first team honors, sophomores Kaity Bailey, Skylar Caputo, Heidi Dyer and Anika Wilson also earned honorable mention recognition.
In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must have at minimum a 3.20 grade-point average, have at least sophomore standing and have participated in at least 50 percent of the season's events.
Senior Knudsen (Valencia, Calif./Valencia HS), graduated in April with a degree in Business Administration and a 3.736 grade-point average. Knudsen is a three-time Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete and this award marks her second WCC All-Academic first team honor. She is also a WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll silver honoree from the 2016 campaign. On the sand, she plays in the No. 1-pair along with Roh and the two have amassed an 18-9 record.
Quiggle (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Ponte Vedra HS), a junior, has amassed a 3.466 GPA while studying Business Administration at Pepperdine. Quiggle earned WCC All-Academic honorable mention honors in 2016, along with being a Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete and a WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll bronze recipient. This season's award is her first, first team accolade. This season, Quiggle and partner Brittany Howard have led the team with a 24-3 overall record.
Also on the first team was sophomore Roh (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral HS), who has posted a team-high 3.813 grade-point average in Integrated Marketing Communications. The first team honor is Roh's first. She was a Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete and earned WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll gold honors in 2016.
Earning honorable mention status were sophomores Bailey, Caputo, Dyer and Wilson. Bailey has accumulated a 3.571 GPA and is studying Sports Medicine, Caputo has produced a 3.391 GPA in Sports Administration, Dyer has posted a 3.205 GPA while studying Integrated Marketing Communications and Wilson has marked a 3.771 GPA in Business Administration.
The Waves will open the NCAA Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala., against Long Beach State at 10 a.m. PT on Friday, May 5.
