SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Pepperdine Baseball team fell on the road to UC Santa Barbara, 10-3, in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday.

Pepperdine falls to 11-12 with the loss, while the Gauchos move to 10-12 on the year. The Waves will resume West Coast Conference play this weekend when they host Gonzaga for a three-game series starting on Friday.

The Waves capitalized on two UCSB errors in the first inning to come up with a 1-0 lead, but it was short-lived as the Gauchos scored four times in the bottom half of the inning. UCSB went up 4-1 after Austin Bush doubled in two runs and then Tommy Jew tripled in a run and scored on an error.

Both pitchers settled in and held the offenses scoreless for the next three innings. The Gauchos would then chase Pepperdine starter Chandler Blanchard in the fifth inning, scoring four runs in the frame to go up 8-1. The home team would add two runs in the eighth inning.

The Waves loaded the bases and scored twice in the ninth inning on two walks.

Ben Rodriguez had a solid day at the plate for the Waves, doubling twice in the game. Jordan Qsar also had a two-hit game for the Waves as Pepperdine posted six hits on the day.

Bush hit three doubles and drove in five runs to lead the Gauchos.

All three games against Gonzaga this weekend will be broadcast on TheW.tv, with Friday's game featured on the WCC's "Friday Night Baseball" series.
