
Pepperdine Opens WCC Play with Sweep at Pacific

RESULTS
STOCKTON, Calif.: The 14th-ranked Pepperdine women's tennis team downed Pacific 4-0 at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center this Saturday afternoon, opening West Coast Conference action with a road win.
Pepperdine (8-4, 1-0 WCC) opened the day with doubles victories on courts one and two, before earning two-set singles wins on courts one, two and six to secure the victory.
In doubles, senior Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai and junior Mayar Sherif dominated Anneroos Nederstigt and Sabrina Rodriguez on court two with a 6-0 final mark. The match was the pairs first outing together.
Then, sophomore Luisa Stefani and freshman Ashley Lahey bested Maayan Sela and Cristina Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz with a 6-1 victory on court one to clinch the doubles point and send Pepperdine into singles with an advantage.
Singles was heavily weighted towards the Waves as well. Senior Christine Maddox opened the action with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Yuki Asami on court six. Stefani, ranked 6th in the Oracle/ITA singles rankings, the put down Sela with a pair of 6-1 sets on court one to make it a 3-0 match and put the Waves in clinching territory. No. 13-ranked Lahey did the honors with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Nederstigt on court two.
