RESULTS | PHOTO GALLERYMALIBU, CALIF.: The Pepperdine men's tennis team crashed down on the Washington Huskies at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center this Sunday afternoon, picking up the doubles point to start and then collecting three singles wins to complete the 4-3 victory.

In doubles, the Waves and Huskies split courts two and three to leave the point in the hands of the one's competitors. Waves' two's pair senior Guilherme Hadlich (Balneário Camboriú, Brazil/Colégio Energia) and sophomore Gabriel Sidney (Curitiba, Parana, Brazil/Anglo Americano) collected the first win of the day with a commanding 6-1 win over Jake Douglas and Enzo Sommer.

With doubles tied and all eyes on court one, senior Stefan Menichella (Santa Barbara, Calif./University HS) and sophomore Jack Van Slyke (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/Laurel Springs HS (Calif.)) stepped up to the task. The duo eventually picked up the 6-3 win to earn the Waves the doubles point to pull ahead 1-0.

In singles, junior Pedro Iamachkine (Lima, Peru/Nebraska HS) was the first to finish, making quick 6-3, 6-1 work of his opponent, Gal Hakak to give the Waves a 2-0 advantage. The Huskies picked up a win on court six to get on the scoreboard, but Pepperdine wasn't far behind.

Menichella extended the Waves' lead to 3-1 on court three, after downing Jake Douglas 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 to put the clinch in the hands of the finals three courts remaining.

On court one, Hadlich had battled tough with Enzo Sommer, winning the first set 6-2 and falling in the second 1-6 to head to a third and final set. The two went point-for-point to a tiebreak, and then continued to exchange leads and tied scores. After the 6-6 mark, Hadlich buckled down and strategically muscled out an 7-6 (8-6) tiebreak win for the clinching victory.

As the teams elected to finish out the match, the Huskies picked up wins on courts four and five to make it a 4-3 overall match.

Next, the Waves remain at home on Sunday, February 12, hosting No. 4 California at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. Follow @PeppTennis on Facebook and Twitter for immediate updates and go to PepperdineWaves.com for full recaps, results and more.
