MALIBU, Calif. - No. 29 Pepperdine men's tennis is readying for its last home match of the 2025-26 campaign when the Waves welcome No. 40 Santa Clara to Malibu on Thursday. The match is set for a 12:00 pm start.
It's a clash of undefeated WCC programs, with the Waves (13-7 overall) and Broncos (17-2 overall) both 4-0 to start conference action this spring. Santa Clara is white-hot, reigning victorious in their last 13 matches. They have not lost since February 7, a 1-4 loss to UC Santa Barbara.
Pepperdine will celebrate its lone senior,
Maxi Homberg, following the match. The Waves slid back one spot in the latest ITA rankings, which were released earlier today. Meanwhile, Santa Clara moved up one spot. It's been nearly all sunshine and roses for Pepperdine when facing the Broncos, recording a 30-1 overall record, including 16-1 at home, against Santa Clara. The Waves' only loss to the Broncos came in 2018, a home match for Pepperdine.
Since 2023, the two squads have clashed five times, and Pepperdine has allowed just one point to the Broncos. Each of the last four matchups have been the Waves sweeping Santa Clara.
The Waves don't have any ranked singles or doubles players, but the Broncos boast a No. 52-ranked doubles team of Luca Bluett and John Kim.
Following the Santa Clara match, Pepperdine will visit No. 16 San Diego on Sunday before closing out the regular season with trips to No. 51 LMU (April 18) and No. 32 UC Santa Barbara (April 19).
