
Aggies Outshoot Waves in Malibu

MALIBU, Calif. -- The Pepperdine women's basketball team couldn't overcome a hot-shooting New Mexico State squad at home on Sunday afternoon, falling 86-64 to the Aggies.
New Mexico State shot 61% (14-for-23) from three and 52% overall in the game to out-pace the Waves. Pepperdine did hit a season-high nine threes, but it wasn't enough. The Waves fall to 4-6 on the year as they wrap up non-conference play. Brooke Salas scored a game-high 32 points to improve the Aggies to 4-6 on the year.

Junior guard Paige Fecske also went 4-for-8 from three, scoring 14 points.
Junior forward Yasmine Robinson-Bacote scored 11 points.

Pepperdine was 9-for-19 from three (47.4%).
The Aggies had a 32-20 points in the paint advantage and 20-5 second chance points advantage.
Pepperdine got 41 points off the bench.

New Mexico State led after the first quarter and built a double-digit lead thanks to an 18-6 run in the first five minutes of the second quarter. Pepperdine would narrow the gap with an 8-2 run to close the half, which included a deep three by Fecske, and trailed 47-33 at the break.
An early 11-0 run in the third quarter put the Aggies' lead back over 20 points, 58-35. New Mexico State would take a 69-50 lead into the fourth and never relinquish it.

Pepperdine has a break for the holidays and will resume play on Dec. 28 then the Waves host Santa Clara for their West Coast Conference opener. Pepperdine welcomes San Diego on Dec. 30 as well.
