MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's basketball team fell at home to the Saint Mary's Gaels on Saturday, 81-60, in a West Coast Conference contest.
For the second straight game Kim Jacobs and Sydney Bordonaro led Pepperdine offensively, putting up 14 points each. The Waves fall to 5-14 overall, 3-5 WCC with the loss, while Saint Mary's moves to 10-9, 5-3 WCC.
Pepperdine was still without its second-leading scorer, Allie Green, in the contest, as the Waves' lone senior missed her second straight game with an injury.
In what was a close first half early, the Gaels used an 11-1 run in the second quarter to build a 13-point lead and take a 42-32 advantage into the locker room. The Waves outshot Saint Mary's 43.3%-42.5%, but were outrebounded 26-14 in the first two quarters.
The Waves cut it to a six-point game three times in the third quarter, but a nearly five-minute scoreless streak to start the fourth quarter put the game out of reach for Pepperdine.
The Gaels used a 48-26 rebounding advantage to score 20 second chance points. Devon Brookshire scored 17 for the visitors and Sydney Raggio led all players with 12 rebounds.
Jacobs and Bordonaro were joined in double figures by Paige Fecske, who posted 10 points. Megan House had eight rebounds and three blocks in the game.
The Waves are on the road next week, heading to Portland on Thursday and Gonzaga on Saturday. Four of Pepperdine's next five games are on the road.
