Final Stats
NORTHRIDGE, CALIF. - Hannah Seabert got the shutout, but the No. 21 Pepperdine women's soccer team couldn't come up with the game-winner in a scoreless draw at Cal State Northridge on Sunday night.
The Waves had an edge in chances and possession, but couldn't come away with the game-winner as they move to 4-2-1 on the year. CSUN moves to 3-1-4. It is the third straight scoreless draw the Matadors have played.
Rylee Baisden (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza HS) had a chance from just inside the box early in overtime, sending a shot on target that was saved by a diving Matador keeper. CSUN came back to nearly end it late in the first overtime, getting a shot from just outside the box that Seabert (Riverside, Calif./Woodcrest Christian HS) was forced to go to the ground to save.
The Waves got off four shots to just one for CSUN in the first overtime.
It was Kristen Rodriguez (Inglewood, Calif./Notre Dame Academy) who would nearly end it in the second overtime, getting a one-touch chance in the box that sailed wide left. With less than two minutes to play, Baisden had a dangerously close free kick from the just outside the right side of the box, but nobody could get on the end of the cross for Pepperdine.
Through regulation the Waves outshot CSUN by a narrow margin of 8-7, but put two more balls on target sending five shots on goal to three for the Matadors. Overall the Waves had a 13-10 shot advantage.
Bri Visalli (San Jose, Calif./Valley Christian HS) had a chance late, taking a shot with less than five minutes left in regulation that sailed just up and over the crossbar. Baisden and Rodriguez both had dangerous chances in the first half that were saved.
Pepperdine returns home for its next match, hosting No. 9 UCLA for a 3 p.m. contest on Friday. The Waves then host Kansas on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both games can be seen live on TheW.tv.
