Waves Get 3M Augusta Invitational Underway

AUGUSTA, Ga. " Sahith Theegala of the Pepperdine men's golf team is tied for sixth place after Saturday's first two rounds of the 3M Augusta Invitational.
The Waves are tied for eighth place with a 36-hole total of 576 (284-292) at the par-72 Forest Hills Golf Club. It's a strong field, as 38th-ranked Pepperdine is trailing seven teams all ranked in Golfstat's top 44, including three of the top four teams in the country. The third and final round is on Sunday.
Theegala (Chino Hills, Calif./Diamond Bar HS), a freshman, has a 5-under 139 (67-72). He had three eagles on the day. During the morning round, he posted five birdies and one eagle en route to a 5-under 67, then had three more birdies and two eagles in the afternoon when he shot par.
Senior Frederick Wedel (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands HS) is tied for 14th place with a 3-under 141 (68-73). His 4-under 68 in the first round included five birdies and an eagle. He added three more birdies in the second round.
Freshman Roy Cootes (Rolling Hills, Calif./Palos Verdes HS) is tied for 48th place at 148 (76-72), freshman Lorenzo Magagnin (Treviso, Italy) is in 68th at 152 (77-75) and junior Robbie Geibel (Pembroke Pines, Fla./American Heritage HS/Louisville) is in 74th at 156 (73-83). Cootes had a total of eight birdies on the day.
