
Men's Golf Wraps Up Play at 3M Augusta Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. " Sahith Theegala and Frederick Wedel turned in top-20 performances as the Pepperdine men's golf team wrapped up play at the 3M Augusta Invitational on Sunday.
The Waves finished in a tie for 10th place with a two-day total of 876 (284-292-300) at the par-72 Forest Hills Golf Club. It was a strong field, as 38th-ranked Pepperdine finished behind seven teams ranked in Golfstat's top 44, including three of the top four teams in the country.
Theegala (Chino Hills, Calif./Diamond Bar HS), a freshman, tied for 13th place with a 3-under 213 (67-72-74). His final round included three birdies and he had 11 for the tournament. He led all players in the field with three eagles (all of which came on Saturday). It was sixth top-20 finish in nine tournaments this season.
Wedel (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands HS), a senior, tied for 16th place with a 2-under 214 (68-73-73). He had a team-high 12 birdies for the tournament, including four on Saturday. It was Wedel's 19th career top-20 finish (moving him into a tie for 10th place all-time at Pepperdine) and his sixth this season.
Freshman Roy Cootes (Rolling Hills, Calif./Palos Verdes HS) tied for 53rd place at 225 (76-72-77), freshman Lorenzo Magagnin (Treviso, Italy) tied for 71st at 232 (77-75-80) and junior Robbie Geibel (Pembroke Pines, Fla./American Heritage HS/Louisville) also tied for 71st at 232 (73-83-76).
Pepperdine's next tournament is the Western Intercollegiate on April 11-13 in Santa Cruz, Calif. It's the last event before the West Coast Conference Championships.
