LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Izzy Connell and Stasia Demick lowered their own school records in the women's 200 and 800 meters, respectively, as the Pepperdine track season came to a conclusion at the Beach Invitational on Saturday.

A senior who was running for her final time with the Waves, Demick (Seattle, Wash./Holy Names Academy) finished the 800 in 2:16.71, eclipsing the record of 2:16.88 that she set as a sophomore in 2014. It became the 12th school record set by Pepperdine's runners in 2016.

Connell (Campbell, Calif./The Harker School) smashed her mark in the 200, going from 24.96 seconds two weeks ago at UCLA to 24.49 today. That was good enough to rank the junior in 10th place out of 86 competitors.

Connell nearly broke her own record in the 100 as well, as her 12.16 seconds was good for 23rd place out of 94 runners and was just .03 away from her best.

Junior Gabrielle Ellis (Gilbert, Ariz./Highland HS) set a PR in the 100 with a time of 12.34. She and Connell rank 1-2 all-time in the event for Pepperdine. In the 200, sophomore Claudia Rodriguez (Nashville, Tenn./Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet HS) notched a PR in 26.07 seconds.

Junior Lindsay Sheaffer (Portland, Ore./Jesuit HS) ran 4:48.50 in the women's 1,500 meters, the best by any Wave this season.
