
Three Waves Earn WCC All-Academic Honors

WCC ALL-ACADEMIC RELEASE
MALIBU, Calif. — The West Coast Conference announced the 2016 All-Academic team this Tuesday afternoon, and three from the Pepperdine women's volleyball team earned honors. Senior Gaby Palmeri and junior Ashley Morgan earned first team honors, while sophomore Jenna Tunnell picked up honorable mention accolades.
Palmeri (Davis, Calif./St. Francis HS) will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 2017. Throughout her time in the classroom, the outside hitter has amassed a 3.70 grade point average, which earns her first team honors. This is the second consecutive season she has earned WCC All-Academic first team honors, while also tabbing two WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll "silver" honors in back-to-back seasons and "bronze" honors once, while also obtaining Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete status. Palmeri also competes on the court for the Waves, posting 1.43 kills/set, 0.48 blocks/set and 0.43 digs/set for the Waves this season.
Morgan (Anaheim Hills, Calif./Canyon HS) is a junior Wave this season and currently sports a 3.64 grade point average while majoring in Sports Medicine. This is the second season she has been tabbed to the WCC All-Academic first team. Previously she has earned WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll "silver" honors twice and has been a Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete every season as a Wave. As a defensive specialist, Morgan produces 2.62 digs/set and 0.11 aces/set this season for the Waves. She has amassed 283 total digs and 12 aces against opponents.
Tunnell (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista HS) has a 3.68 grade point average as an undeclared sophomore and has earned a spot in the honorable mention list this season. This is Tunnell's first WCC All-Academic honor. As a freshman, she earned WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll "silver" honors and was tabbed a Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete. She averages 1.14 kills/set, 3.82 assists/set, 0.14 aces/set, 1.84 digs/set and 0.44 blocks/set for the Waves at this point in the season.
