Pepperdine currently has 21 former players playing professionally in the majors, minors and internationally. With the MLB regular season concluded, we took a look at how all of the Waves in the pros fared this year…
MLB
Chase d'Arnaud - Atlanta Braves (MLB)
D'Arnaud played with the Atlanta Braves this season in the MLB. He played in 84 games and posted a .244 batting average with one home run and 21 RBI. D'Arnaud also spent 11 games with the Triple-A Gwinnett Braves in the International League.
Danny Worth - Houston Astros/Fresno Grizzlies (MLB/AAA)
Worth spent most of the 2016 year in Triple-A with the Fresno Grizzlies. He was called up to the Astros for 16 games, in which he hit .179. With the Grizzlies, he played in 84 games, hitting .330 with 11 home runs and 48 RBI.
Jon Moscot - Cincinnati Reds (MLB)
Moscot pitched in five games for the Cincinnati Reds before undergoing Tommy John Surgery to repair his UCL.
International
Eric Thames - NC Dinos (Korean Baseball Organization)
Thames is currently playing professional baseball in Korea with the NC Dinos. He played in 116 games, hitting .320 with 40 home runs and 117 RBI, again establishing himself as one of the premier sluggers in the KBO a year after winning the league's MVP award.
Barry Enright - Toros de Tijuana (Liga Mexicana de Beisbol)
Enright helped pitch the Toros into the championship game of the Mexican Baseball League, recording a 10-5 record and 3.19 ERA. Enright tossed 127.0 innings, striking out 73 batters while walking just 16. He led the team in wins and strikeouts for the year.
MiLB
Brad Anderson - AZL Angels (Los Angeles Angels/Rookie)
Anderson was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim during the 2016 Amateur Draft. He spent his first season of pro ball with the AZL Angels in Rookie Ball. Anderson played in 23 games, hitting .216 with 10 RBI.
Aaron Brown - Reading Fightin' Phils (Philadelphia Phillies/AA)
Brown spent most of the year with the Reading Fightin Phils, where he hit .224 with three home runs and 27 RBI. He was sent down on a rehab assignment to the Rookie Ball league for three games. From there he went to the Clearwater Threshers where he played 20 games and hit .304 with two home runs and 12 RBI.
Matt Bywater - Laredo Lemurs (Independent Ball)
Bywater spent the 2016 season in three leagues with four teams in Independent Ball. He played with the Sussex County Miners, the Somerset Patriots, the Sioux Falls Canaries and the Laredo Lemurs.
Austin Davidson - Potomac Nationals (Washington Nationals/Advanced A)
Davidson played the 2016 season with the Single-A Hagerstown Suns, and the Advanced-A Potomac Nationals. With the Suns, he hit .285 with five home runs and 22 RBI. With the Nationals, he hit .258 with four home runs and 21 RBI.
Scott Frazier - Eugene Emeralds (Chicago Cubs/Short Season A)
Frazier played his 2016 season with the South Bend Cubs and the Eugene Emeralds. He tossed six games in South Bend and 12 games in Eugene, allowing a .233 opponents average and striking out 23 batters.
Brian Humphries - Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks (Independent Ball)
Humphries spent the 2016 season with the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks of the American Association Independent League. With the Redhawks, he hit .293 with 13 home runs and 66 RBI.
Manny Jefferson - Hilsboro Hops (Arizona Diamondbacks/Short Season A)
Jefferson was drafted in the 2016 Amateur Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks and spent his first professional season with the short season Single-A Hillsboro Hops. He played in 59 games, hitting .207 with three home runs and 22 RBI.
Harrison Kain - Wichita Wingnuts (Independent Ball)
Kain played the 2016 season with the Wingnuts in the American Association Independent League. Kain hit .358 for Wichita, earning all-star honors with the second highest batting average in the league. He posted three homers, six triples, 13 doubles and 48 RBI on the year.
Eric Karch - Inland Empire 66ers (Los Angeles Angels/Advanced A)
Karch spent the first part of the 2016 season with the West Virginia Power in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, but was released. He signed with the Angels and was assigned to the Burlington Bees, where he went 2-6 with a 3.41 ERA before being promoted to the Hi-A Inland Empire 66ers. With the 66ers, he went 0-1 with a 3.79 ERA.
Jackson McClelland - Vancouver Canadians (Toronto Blue Jays/Short Season A)
McClelland spent his 2016 season with the Vancouver Canadians in short season Single-A ball. He pitched in 24 games, going 2-4 with one save, and a 3.26 ERA.
Corey Miller - Stockton Ports (Oakland A's/Advanced A)
Miller spent most of the 2016 season with the Stockton Ports in Advanced-A ball. With the Ports, he struck out 34 batters and walked 13 in 39.1 innings pitched. Miller also spent time with the Single-A Beloit Snappers.
Hutton Moyer - Inland Empire 66ers (Los Angeles Angels/Advanced A)
Moyer spent the beginning of his 2016 season with the Burlington Bees, playing in 26 games and hitting .313 with three home runs and 13 RBI before getting promoted to the Hi-A Inland Empire 66ers. With the 66ers, he played in 98 games, hitting .267 with 14 home runs and 59 RBI.
A.J. Puckett - Lexington Legends (Kansas City Royals/Full Season A)
Puckett was drafted by the Royals in the second round of the 2016 Amateur draft. He spent two games with the AZL Royals before being promoted to the Lexington Legends in full season Single-A ball. With the legends, he pitched in 11 games, gaining a 2-3 record and a 3.66 ERA.
Joe Sever - Akron Rubberducks (Cleveland Indians/AA)
Sever spent the 2016 season with the Akron Rubberducks in Double-A. He played in 114 games, hitting .251 with four home runs and 35 RBI.
Zach Vincej - Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Cincinnati Reds/AA)
Vincej played his 2016 season with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in Double-A ball. He played in 121 games, hitting .281 with three home runs and 47 RBI. Vincej posted a .991 fielding percentage to earn Rawlings Gold Glove honors.
Kolten Yamaguchi - Evansville Otters (Independent Ball)
Signed on with the Schaumburg Boomers in the Frontier League originally before switching over to the Evansville Otters after two games. In 33 games played, Yamaguchi batted .255 with two homers, one triple and 13 RBI.
