MALIBU, Calif.
- The Pepperdine men's and women's tennis teams were littered throughout the 2016 Oracle/ITA Rankings released this afternoon. The women earned the No. 19-spot as a team and the men were ranked No. 33.

The women's rankings were highlighted by new doubles pair freshman Luisa Stefani and junior Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai who ranked eighth overall after boasting a 33.19 points average on the court this past fall.

Throughout the fall, Stefani and Runglerdkriangkrai went 7-1 as a pair, defeating opponents to earn a USTA/ITA Southwest Regional Championship. The duo picked up wins over Maryland, Loyola Marymount, Cal State Northridge and UC Santa Barbara on their way to the No. 8-ranking. The two are the only West Coast Conference program to earn a spot in the top-10 doubles rankings.

Men's duo Gabriel Sidney and Guilherme Hadlich garnered the No. 19-spot in the doubles rankings. The partners went 7-3 overall including a 2-2 outing against nationally ranked opponents, while earning a 24.48 points average in the rankings. The pairs partnership was highlighted in their first-ever tournament together, the Oracle/ITA Masters, where freshman Sidney and junior Hadlich defeated the nationally ranked No. 1 Georgia duo with a 3-6, 7-5, 11-9 outing and the No. 28 Notre Dame pair with a 6-4, 7-5 final decision, to earn a spot in the finals against No. 2 Virginia.

Also earning a spot in women's doubles rankings were long-time duo senior Matea Cutura and junior Christine Maddox who picked up the No. 18-spot and sophomore Laura Gulbe with freshman partner Dzina Milovanovic who tabbed the No. 45-spot.

Cutura and Maddox entered the second year as a partnership in the fall of 2015, posting a 23.26 points average and going 7-2 in the fall. New duo Gulbe and Milovanovic came out strong in the second half of the fall season, collecting a 6-5 record and 5.1 points average. The pair defeated two nationally ranked opponents, including No. 30 Zoe Katz and Madison Westby out of USC late in the season.

Stefani excelled in the rankings as well, coming in as the No. 14 selection after her first fall on the court for the Waves. Milovanovic and Gulbe were also found in the singles rankings at the No. 96 and No. 102-spots respectively.

Stefani broke onto the Waves' platform early in the season as a single, competing in her first tournament at the Oracle/ITA Masters, the first nationally-acclaimed tournament of the year. She is the only West Coast Conference women's tennis player to earn a spot in the top-25 rankings; and went 14-3 overall with a 37.41 points average, while sporting a 7-3 record against nationally ranked opposition. The freshman ended the 2015 fall campaign and will enter the 2016 spring season on a six-match winning streak.

Milovanovic also found herself sporting the Waves uniform for the first time in 2015, picking up a 9-2 overall record and earning a 1-1 record against ranked opponents, while earning a 5.1 average in the rankings. Gulbe also garnered a spot on the 2016 rankings after going 8-4 throughout the fall campaign and 1-1 against ranked competition.

Both teams will return in January with the spring season, beginning with the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The women will compete in Fort Worth, Texas on January 22-23, with the first match-up beginning at 8 a.m. against Ohio State. The men will open the spring season in Los Angeles against Tulane at 10 a.m.
