Round 1 Results 
SOMIS, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's golf team has opened up a six-stroke lead after Monday's first round of the West Coast Conference Championships, while junior Marissa Chow has a two-shot advantage in the individual race.
The Waves, who are looking for their 14th consecutive league title, finished strong to overtake Gonzaga. The #20 Waves shot a 311 at the very tough par-72 Saticoy Country Club. The Bulldogs are at 317 and San Francisco is at 318.
Pepperdine, Gonzaga and USF will tee off the #10 hole beginning at 9:15 a.m. for Tuesday's second round.
Chow (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani HS) is off to a good start as she goes for her second victory of the school year. She had a 2-over 74 that included three birdies.
Freshman Katherine Zhu (Vancouver, B.C.) is tied for fifth place at 78, freshman Tatiana Wijaya (Jakarta, Indonesia) is tied for ninth at 79, senior Somin Lee (Denver, Colo./Overland HS) is in 12th place at 80 and senior Alina Ching (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) is in 25th at 88. Zhu and Wijaya each had two birdies on the day.
The average score on Monday was 80.88.
The tournament concludes with the third round on Wednesday. Pepperdine has won 16 of the 18 WCC Championships ever contested.
