SAN DIEGO - The #43-ranked Pepperdine men's tennis team earned its first shut-out victory of the season, blanking William & Mary, 4-0. The Waves won the doubles point, before charting three straight-set wins in singles play.

Pepperdine is spending the final days of its Spring Break in the San Diego area. The Waves, who moved to 7-4 on the season with the win, faced the Tribe on the campus of San Diego State this evening. Both squads continue action tomorrow in La Jolla with the 126h annual Pacific Coast Doubles Championship.

Sophomore doubles pair Tom Hill (Birmingham, England/K12 International Academy) and Stefan Menichella (Santa Barbara, Calif./University HS) opened the day win a 6-2 triumph over Christian Cargill and Scott Huang.

Reigning West Coast Conference Doubles Team of the Week Guilherme Hadlich (Balneário Camboriú, Brazil/Colégio Energia) and Rakshay Thakkar (Pune, India/St. Vincent's High School) pocketed the doubles point for Pepperdine with a 6-4 victory from the No. 1 spot in the lineup. The pair now boasts a team-best 4-1 record together.

Pedro Iamachkine (Lima, Peru/Nebraska HS) and Luca Marquard (Bensheim, Germany/Goeth Gymnasium Bensheim) were ahead in their match at No. 3 when action was suspended.

The Waves rolled with the momentum in singles, winning first sets on all but one court.

Iamachkine extended his win streak to seven in a row with his first-ever collegiate shutout. The freshman blanked Scott Huang, 6-0, 6-0.

Marquard at No. 6 and Menichella at No. 1 solidified the Wave victory, as both served up straight-set triumphs.

Pepperdine will now play at the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship, held at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club, through Sunday. Draws are available here.
