MALIBU, Calif. -- After dropping the doubles point, the #49-ranked Pepperdine men's tennis team bounced back in singles to win 4-1. Senior Rakshay Thakkar and freshman Pedro Iamachkine both won soundly in straight sets, allowing just four games apiece.

With the win, the Waves move to 11-7 on the season, including a 3-1 mark in West Coast Conference play. The Cougars fall to 3-2 in the league and 9-13 in 2015.

BYU won two close doubles matches by a single break to take the early 1-0 lead, but Pepperdine responded in singles, taking a set advantage on five of the six courts.

Thakkar (Pune, India/St. Vincent's High School) was the first off the court, dispatching Shane Monroe 6-2, 6-2. Iamachkine (Lima, Peru/Nebraska HS) soon followed. The rookie charted a 6-0, 6-4 win versus Jacob Sullivan at No. 4.

Stefan Menichella (Santa Barbara, Calif./University HS) bounced back from an 0-6 setback in the first against Andrey Goryachkov, winning 6-0 in the second set. The Wave took the third frame 6-3 to elevate the Waves to a 3-1 advantage.

Luca Marquard (Bensheim, Germany/Goeth Gymnasium Bensheim) had the honors of providing the dual-clinching point, winning 6-2, 7-5 against Aiden Carrazedo at No. 6.

With the dual decided, action was suspended on the remaining courts.

Next up, Pepperdine hosts San Diego on Wednesday, April 1. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
