MALIBU, Calif. - Hutton Moyer drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth as the Pepperdine baseball team survived a scare against Dartmouth with a 6-5 win on Wednesday.

The Waves took a three-run lead into the eighth, but the Big Green scored one run in the eighth and two in the ninth to even the contest. Moyer's shot into the gap in the bottom of the ninth ended it, however, scoring Matt Gelalich from second to give the Waves a walk-off win.

The win moves Pepperdine to 10-12 on the year as the Waves get set to host LMU this weekend for a three-game WCC series.

Pepperdine scored four times in the first three inning to grab a 4-1 lead early on. Gelalich (La Verne, Calif./Bonita HS) and Manny Jefferson (Lakewood, Calif./Lakewood HS) hit back-to-back RBI singles in the second, and Brad Anderson (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza HS) drove in a run in the first and scored on a wild pitch in the third. Anderson would finish the day 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and a run scored.

Anderson's RBI-single in the fifth gave the Waves a 5-2 lead they would take into the eighth. The Waves finished the day with 11 hits and Dartmouth posted 14, six of which came in the final two frames.

Dustin Shirley made it a 5-3 game with a run-scoring single in the eighth and then Joe Purritano and Nick Lombardi hit consecutive RBI singles in the ninth to tie the game.

The Waves were down to their last out when Gelalich laced a ball into centerfield to keep the inning alive with a single. Brandon Caruso (Pasadena, Calif./Loyola HS) then drew a walk, setting up Moyers' (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic HS) shot into the gap that plated Gelalich easily from second.

Pepperdine went through four pitchers in the game, getting 4.2 innings from Chandler Blanchard (Henderson, Nev./Coronado HS) in his first career start. Blanchard gave up one earned run and four hits in the outing before Jayson Balades (Oxnard, Calif./Oxnard HS) came in to work 2.1 scoreless inning of relief. Jordan Qsar (El Cajon, Calif./Valhalla HS) pitched the eighth and Max Gamboa (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais HS) tossed the ninth, picking up the win on the walk-off despite the blown-save.

Four Waves had multi-hit days and four different plates drove in runs. Matt Parisi and Ben Socher had three-hit days for the Big Green.

Pepperdine opens its series with LMU on Friday at 3 p.m. That game will be broadcast live on TheW.tv as part of the conference's Friday Night Baseball package.
