MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine baseball team closed out its series with Hawaii on Sunday with a 10-5 victory at home. The Waves won the last three games of the series after dropping the opener.

A late home run from Brad Anderson (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza HS) helped seal the win for Pepperdine after freshman starter Ryan Wilson (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS) tossed seven strong innings to move the team's record to 7-5 on the year.

The Waves blew open a 2-1 ballgame with a four-run seventh inning to take a 6-1 lead into the eighth. Hawaii answered with four runs of their own in the eighth, getting three RBI-singles and a sacrifice fly to make it 6-5.

Aaron Barnett (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley HS) made it a two-run cushion with an RBI groundout in the eighth and then Anderson launched a three-run shot to deep left-center to make it 10-5 in favor of the Waves. It was the junior first baseman's second homer of the year.

Anderson finished the day 2-for-5 at the plate with four RBI. He also drove in a run in the seventh as part of the four-run inning.

Wilson worked through the seventh inning, giving up six hits and just one unearned run. The freshman lefty struck out nine batters and walked just one in the win. He moves to 2-0 on the season.

The Waves scored on an error in the third and then Chris Fornaci (Walnut Creek, Calif./De La Salle HS) made it 2-0 with an RBI-double in the fourth. The Warriors got their first run on a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Fornaci and Hutton Moyer (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic HS) each drove in two runs on the day and six players posted multi-hit days for Pepperdine. The Waves recorded 15 hits in the contest.

Hawaii got two RBI from Alan Baldwin in the game and had four players with multiple hits. The Warriors fall to 5-8 with the loss.

Chandler Blanchard (Henderson, Nev./Coronado HS) recorded the final six outs in the game to pick up his second save of the year.

Pepperdine will be back in action on Tuesday when the team travels to Cal State Fullerton for a non-conference matchup.
