MALIBU, Calif. " The 2015 West Coast Conference Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams and individual honors were announced today and four Pepperdine players were honored. Highlighting the awards were Pepperdine's Bri Visalli earning All-WCC first team honors and Christina Settles being named WCC Freshman of the Year.
The Waves' Hailey Harbison was also named to the All-WCC second team, and Rylee Baisden and Settles earned all-conference honorable mention. Pepperdine has had multiple players honored on the postseason awards every year since 1999.
Settles (Oceanside, Calif./Oceanside HS) becomes the program's fourth WCC Freshman of the Year and the second in a row after Harbison (Rancho Penasquitos, Calif./Westview HS) took home the honor last season. Settles was a key component in the Waves' midfield and attack this season, finishing the year with a pair of goals. She played in all 19 games this season, making 13 starts in her first collegiate campaign.
Visalli (San Jose, Calif./Valley Christian HS) was the Waves' leading scorer this season, posting four goals on a team-high 39 shots. Two of her strikes were game-winners this year, also a team-high in that category. The sophomore midfielder earned All-WCC honorable mention last year and has already earned WCC All-Academic first team honors this season.
Harbison, last year's WCC Freshman of the Year and all-conference honorable mention honoree, contributed both defensively and on the attack this season for the Waves. The sophomore standout scored one goal and notched one assist, getting starts at both outside defender and forward this year. Harbison started all 17 games she played in this season.
Baisden (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza HS) was similar to Harbison this season in being a contributor both offensively and defensively for the Waves, playing the majority of her games as an attacking defender on the outside. Baisden finished tied for the team lead with two assists this year, starting all 19 games for Pepperdine. It is the first all-conference honor of the red-shirt junior's career.
