MALIBU, Calif. -- Pepperdine fans enjoyed the start of two highly anticipated basketball seasons on Friday night as the Waves hosted their annual Blue & Orange Madness in Firestone Fieldhouse.

Both the men's and women's basketball teams were introduced to the public for the first time, and head coaches Ryan Weisenberg and Marty Wilson encouraged the fans in attendance to keep coming back (plus Weisenberg led the crowd in a "Happy Birthday" song for Wilson). The women held a three-point shooting contest (won by freshman Sydney Bordonaro) and the men competed in a 10-minute scrimmage.

The White team (Kameron Edwards, Jake Johnson, Ryan Keenan, Jeremy Major, Lamond Murray Jr., Jett Raines and John Yi) defeated the Blue team (Jonathan Allen, Hakeem Anchrum, Stacy Davis, A.J. John, Shawn Olden, Atif Russell and Jamani Spencer). Murray scored 14 points and Edwards had 10 for the winners, while Davis and Russell both had nine and Olden had eight for the losing side.

The Pom Squad and the Step Team had performances, two halfcourt shots for free tuition were taken (both parent and student missed) and the Rally Crew helped pump up the crowd. As is now tradition, the night ended with all of the students and student-athletes on the court performing the Cupid Shuffle, followed by other favorite dance songs.

The women's basketball team has two home exhibitions (Oct. 31 vs. Bristol and Nov. 6 vs. Bethesda Christian) before opening the regular season at Army on Nov. 13. The Waves' home opener is Nov. 20 against Cal State Fullerton.

The men's basketball team begins its season at Fresno State on Nov. 13, followed by the home opener against San Diego Christian on Nov. 16.
