Sept. 23, 2014 RANKINGS: NCAA RPI | NSCAA | Soccer America | Top Drawer
MALIBU, Calif. - The first official NCAA RPI rankings came out this week and the Pepperdine women's soccer team checked in at seventh. Pepperdine also moved up one spot to No. 11 in the NSCAA Poll after a 2-0 week.
The Waves are now 8-1-1 on the year after picking up wins over Boise State and then-No. 15 USC last week. Pepperdine is a consensus No. 11 in the polls this week, with both Top Drawer Soccer and Soccer America putting the Waves on the cusp of the Top 10 as well.
The Waves are the only school from a mid-major conference within the Top 15 of the RPI ratings.
The No. 11 rating matches the highest Pepperdine has climbed in the polls this season after they were rated 11th following the second week of the year in which the Waves downed No. 9 North Carolina. Pepperdine has stayed in the Top 15 ever since.
The Waves have wins over two Top 25 opponents and their only loss came at the hands of consensus No. 1 UCLA. Pepperdine has beaten teams from the ACC (North Carolina), Pac 12 (USC), Big 10 (Maryland) and SEC (Kentucky) so far this year.
The Waves have one more non-conference game on the schedule before starting WCC play, facing off with Cal State Fullerton on Thursday. Pepperdine opens conference action next week then they host Santa Clara and San Francisco.
