Sept. 15, 2014 ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Junior Marissa Chow currently stands in a tie for third place at the rain-halted Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, where the Pepperdine women's golf team opened the 2014-15 season on Monday.
Originally slated to play 36 holes at the par-73 UNM Championship Course on Monday, most players are only shown having completed between 30 and 34 holes before play was stopped. Teams will resume play on Tuesday at 7:45 a.m. MT before starting the third and final round.
Pepperdine, the defending champion, will have its work cut out on Tuesday to try to repeat. The Waves are currently 15-over and in seventh place, 20 shots back of Northwestern.
According to unofficial online results, Chow (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani HS), is 2-under through 33 holes. She's tied with Northwestern's Hannah Kim, while Northwestern's Suc Tangkamolprasert and UNLV's Dana Finkelstein lead at 6-under. Chow shot an even-par 73 in the first round and is 2-under during the second round. She had a total of seven birdies on the day.
Also in the lineup, freshman Tatiana Wijaya (Jakarta, Indonesia/Shenton College) is tied for 20th at 3-over, freshman Katherine Zhu (Vancouver, B.C./Zhuji Hailiang Private School) is tied for 46th at 7-over, senior Somin Lee (Denver, Colo./Overland HS) is tied for 64th at 10-over and senior Alina Ching (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) is tied for 78th at 14-over.
Playing as individuals, sophomore Alessandra Arza (Asuncion, Paraguay/Asuncion Christian Academy) is tied for 46th at 7-over and sophomore Andrea Unson (Manila, Philippines/Walkersville Christian) is 70th at 11-over.
