Palmeri, Messing Earn WCC All-Academic Honors

MALIBU, Calif. - The West Coast Conference announced its annual All-Academic squad, including two members of the Pepperdine women's volleyball team. Gaby Palmeri was honored as a first-team selection, while Katie Messing was tabbed an honorable mention for the third-consecutive year.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each conference-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team.
Palmeri (Davis, Calif./St. Francis HS) started in all 30 of the Waves' matches in 2014 as the right-side hitter. She ranked third on the squad with a 2.38 kills per set average, while ranking in at second with 62 total blocks.
The sophomore biology major boasts one of the top grade point averages in the entire athletic department with a cumulative GPA of 3.71.
Messing (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands HS) is making her third-straight appearance on the honorable mention squad. The senior entered the fall semester with a GPA 3.30 as she closes in on completing her degree in public relations.
The outside hitter was the Waves' go-to offensive threat in 2014, leading Pepperdine and ranking 10th in the conference with a kills average of 3.44. She makes her exit from the indoor arena ranked 14th in program history with 1,085 kills.
