Nov. 9, 2014 Malibu, Calif. - Team Blue continued its winning ways against Team Orange with a 7-4 victory on Sunday afternoon in game four of the Blue & Orange World Series. Blue has won the first four games of the five-game series.
Blue struck first in the top of the second. Brad Anderson continued his torrid streak, tripling high off the right-center field wall. Aaron Barnett followed with a sacrifice fly to give Blue a 1-0 lead. Orange answered back, scoring three unearned runs off Blue starter A.J. Puckett in the bottom of the second. Kolten Yamaguchi doubled in Josh Davis and Isaiah Deutsch to give Orange a 2-1 lead. Brandon Caruso's two-out single drove in Yamaguchi to make it 3-1.
Blue took the lead for good with a four-run third, however, on five consecutive two-out hits highlighted by back-to-back RBI doubles from Anderson and Barnett to give the team a 5-3 lead. Blue scored its final two runs in the seventh. Anderson led off the inning with a home run to centerfield and Jordan Qsar's two-out single scored Barnett to give Blue a 7-3 lead.
Jayson Balades got the win in relief of A.J. Puckett. The junior lefthander pitched 2.1 scoreless innings while striking out three. Senior Mat Snider worked out of a two-out jam in the ninth, stranding the bases loaded to preserve the victory.
Anderson led the way for Team Blue going 3-for-5 with three RBI. Barnett also had three hits and two RBI in the victory. Freshman shortstop Chase Lambert went 4-for-4 in his first game as a member of Blue. Isaiah Deutsch had three hits for Orange in the loss.
The series wraps up Tuesday at 2:30pm. Chandler Blanchard (O) will face Kiko Garcia (B). Orange looks to salvage at least one game off the Blue & Orange World Series.
