Nov. 10, 2014

NCAA Tournament Bracket

MALIBU, Calif. - The 2014 NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament field was announced on Monday and the 12th-ranked Pepperdine Women's Soccer team drew a #4 seed in the 64-team bracket. The Waves will host USC on Saturday at 12 p.m. in a rematch from earlier this season.

It is Pepperdine's third postseason appearance in the last four years and the program's eighth overall as they pick up an at-large bid in the tournament field. The Waves previously hosted their first round games in both 2011 and 2012.

Pepperdine has faced eight teams in this year's tournament field, going 5-2-1 against them. The Waves got wins over national seeds North Carolina (#2 seed) and Kentucky (#3 seed) this year. Pepperdine and USC faced off on Sept. 21, with the Waves picking up a 2-1 victory in Los Angeles. The two programs have played each other twice before in NCAA postseason play, with Pepperdine getting the win in both 2001 and 2003.

The Waves finished the regular season 15-2-3, matching the second best win total in program history. Pepperdine climbed as high as No. 7 in the NSCAA Coaches Poll this year and finished with an RPI rating of 13th in the country.

The West Coast Conference will be represented by three teams in this year's tournament for the sixth season in a row. San Diego will play top-ranked UCLA in the opening round and BYU travels to Colorado for its opening game.

The Bruins are the #1 seed in the Waves' section of the bracket and would be in line to host the second and third round games should they advance.
