MALIBU, Calif. - After leading the No. 12 Pepperdine women's soccer team to a 3-2 win over No. 15 BYU in the team's regular-season finale, Lynn Williams picked up the final WCC Player of the Week award of the 2014 season.
Williams (Fresno, Calif./Bullard HS) recorded a pair of assists in the offensive battle to help end BYU's 13-match unbeaten streak.
The senior forward turned on the jets to go around her defender late in the first half, sending a cross back across the goal that was headed in to make it a 1-1 game. Williams then put a quick move on another Cougar defender in the second half, again taking the ball towards the end line before sending it back into the center of the box for a one-touch goal that was the difference in the game.
The two assists were Williams' seventh and eighth of the season to go along with her 12 goals. Both totals are team-highs and are in the top three in the conference. It is the third Player of the Week award for Williams, the most of any player in the conference.
The Waves finished the regular season 15-2-3 with the win this weekend.
