MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine rallied from a two run deficit with six unanswered runs to seize a 10-6 victory and compete the four-game series sweep against Western Michigan Sunday afternoon at Eddy D. Field Stadium. The Waves (4-0) have opened the season with four straight wins for the first time since the 2001 club went 7-0 out of the gate at the expense of the Broncos (0-4).

Austin Davidson (Oxnard, Calif./Oxnard HS) enjoyed a big day for Pepperdine, matching a career-high with four hits, including a double, two RBI to go with three runs. Chris Amezquita (La Mirada, Calif./UCLA) put an exclamation point on the Waves rally with a majestic three-run home run to left, finishing 3-for-5 with three RBI and a pair of runs. Sam Meyer (Los Altos, Calif./St. Francis HS) also enjoyed a productive day, going 3-for-5 with an RBI double.

Western Michigan seized its largest lead of the series with a four-run sixth to take a 6-4 advantage. It would not last as the Waves answered with three runs in each of the next two frames. Hutton Moyer (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic HS) led off the sixth with a single and scored on a double down the left field line by Davidson. Meyer followed with an RBI double down the line in left. Two batters later, Bryan Langlois (Oak Park, Calif./Oak Park HS) sent Pepperdine's third double of the inning down the left field line to take a 7-6 lead.

Davidson and Meyer started the Waves off in the seventh with back-to-back one-out singles, setting the stage for Amezquita, who sent a towering blast to leftfield for a three-run homer to cap the scoring for Pepperdine.

Eric Karch (Fresno, Calif./Clovis West HS) earned his first victory of the season in relief, tossing 1.1 innings, allowing two hits with a strikeout. Michael Swanner (Cardiff, Calif./La Costa Canyon HS) struck out two in a scoreless eighth. Aaron Brown (Chatsworth, Calif./Chatsworth HS) got a no decision after going 5.2 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) off three hits with five strikeouts and four walks.

Pepperdine concludes its five-game homestand when it welcomes No. 22 Cal State Fullerton to Malibu Tuesday, February 19. First pitch against the Titans is set for 2:00 p.m. in a contest featuring a live video stream via WaveCasts.
