MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine remained unbeaten on the season sweeping a Saturday doubleheader against Western Michigan on an 80-degree day at Eddy D. Field Stadium. The Waves (3-0) dispatched the Broncos (0-3) 7-2 in game one and seized a 7-1 victory in the nightcap.

Prior to first pitch in game one, Pepperdine Athletics and Waves Baseball recognized the 1963 team in a special pregame ceremony commemorating its 50th anniversary. Head coach Gary Marks was in attendance along with 10 of his former players, including Major League Wave and 2011 West Coast Conference Hall of Honor inductee Dr. Gail Hopkins. The 1963 squad advanced to the NCAA College Division Playoffs after posting a 26-8 record.

Pepperdine swung the bat well in both games and outhit WMU 19-12 with six extra base hits and 11 RBI. Ranny Lowe (Granada Hills, Calif./Notre Dame HS) finished the day 4-for-8 with a double, two RBI and three runs, while Hutton Moyer (San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic HS) went 3-for-9 with a double. Sam Meyer (Los Altos, Calif./Los Altos HS) did a ton of damage at the plate finishing 2-for-6 with a solo home run and a team-high five RBI.

Junior righthander Corey Miller (Laguna Nigel, Calif./Serra HS) took the game one victory, tossing 6.0 innings, allowing one run off four hits and matched his career-high with eight strikeouts. Freshman Jackson McClelland (Beaumont, Calif./Redlands East Valley HS) won his collegiate debut, going 5.0 innings, allowing one run off six hits and struck out a pair.

After allowing a first inning run yesterday, Pepperdine pitching posted 11.1 scoreless innings against WMU hitting. The Waves bullpen has yet to give up an earned run in three contests and have allowed only three hits in 5.0 innings with six strikeouts.

After Pepperdine opened up a comfortable 3-1 lead, Western Michigan made it a game in the seventh with a run to make the score 4-2. The Waves rallied for four in the bottom of the frame and cruised to the victory. Miller (1-0) was impressive in his 2013 debut and tossed 6.0 innings allowing one run off four hits and struck out eight for his ninth career victory.

Meyer did most of the damage offensively for the Waves, finishing with four RBI, including a two-run double in the seventh. Lowe connected for a pair of hits and scored three times for Pepperdine. Mike Moyer (0-1) suffered the loss for WMU, allowing three runs off five hits.

Western Michigan committed six errors in game two of the doubleheader and Pepperdine took full advantage, scoring four unearned runs in collecting its third straight win. Bryan Langlois (Oak Park, Calif./Oak Park HS) had an RBI double in the second.

After McClelland's start, Mat Snider (Los Altos, Calif./Los Altos HS) tossed two scoreless innings, followed by scoreless innings from Matt Maurer (Medford, Ore./North Medford HS) and Michael Swanner (Cardiff, Calif./La Costa Canyon HS). Both Maurer and Swanner struck out a Bronco.

Patrick Borlik (0-1) took the loss for WMU, allowing two runs (none earned) off three hits and struck out three. Kurt Hoestra went 2-for-4 for the Broncos.
