THE BATS: Sophomore Joe Sever continued his assault against opposing pitchers last weekend at San Francisco, hitting .538 (7-for-13) with two home runs and six RBI ... Sever launched a two-run shot in game two vs. the Dons and blasted his first career grand slam in the second inning of game three ... Sever's five RBI Sunday (5/15) set a career high as he became the first Wave since Nate Johnson on March 26, 2010 (vs. Stony Brook) to go deep with the bases loaded ... Sever also is the second Wave this year to homer in consecutive games, joining Chris Amezquita (4/8 & 9 at Portland) ... Sam Meyer extended his personal best hitting streak to nine games with a 4-for-11 series at USF and now leads Pepperdine with a .315 batting average ... David DiPaola also posted solid numbers vs. the Dons, hitting .364 with a double, two runs and a stolen base ... Eight of the Dons hits went for extra bases, including a three-run home run by Pete Lavin in the seventh inning of game one vs. starter Aaron Gates with two outs ... Gates was dealing a shutout until that point and finished with four strikeouts ... Jon Moscot delivered a quality start in game two, giving up a pair of runs through 6.0 innings with four Ks, but his bullpen was roughed up during a five-run seventh and the Waves lost 7-2 ... Sunday starter Matt Maurer could not get out of the second inning as the Dons rallied from a five-run deficit and later scored the go-ahead runs off reliever Jared Lee, who stayed on for 5.2 innings in a long-relief appearance with four punchouts.

THE GLOVES: Pepperdine made zero errors through 109 fielding opportunities during its three-game series at USF, marking only the second time this season the Waves have gone three or more games without a miscue ... Pepperdine also had a four-game errorless streak from March 19-25 in contests vs. Coastal Carolina, Cal Poly and Dayton, which coincided with their longest winning streak of 2011 (five games) ... Additionally, the Waves spun two double plays in raising their season total to a conference best 56 ... Harrison Kain was credited with his ninth outfield assist after throwing a Dons base runner out a third from center field following a failed pickoff attempt ... Senior catcher Trent Diedrich caught two runners stealing second base on three attempts.

ABOUT PEPPERDINE: Pepperdine boasts a one-of-a-kind athletic department with unprecedented success for a school of its size. The Waves have won a total of nine NCAA championships in five different men's sports -- one of just 14 schools to have accomplished this feat. Of the 14, Pepperdine is the only non-BCS school and has by far the smallest enrollment. The majority of Pepperdine's teams are ranked nationally year after year and compete for conference and national titles.
