Pepperdine Tallies 14 Season-Best Times at Cal Poly Shootout

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Fourteen season-best times highlighted action for the Pepperdine women's swimming and diving team at the Cal Poly Shootout. The divers also made a strong showing, recording four top-five finishes.

Pepperdine scored 205 points on the first day, but opted out of competing on the second day of competition due to adverse weather conditions.

Tiffany Martz (Folsom, Calif./Folsom HS) boasted the highest overall finish for the Waves, placing second in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 220.50. She followed that up with a fourth-place showing in the 3-meter.

Also finishing in the top-5 of the 1-meter was Leslie Wade (Atlanta, Ga./The Lovett School), who posted a fourth-place score of 210.90.

Kristin Scribner (Bonney Lake, Wash./Bonney Lake HS) was the top finisher for Pepperdine in the 3-meter springboard, placing third after earning a score of 215.90.

Kayleen Hicks (Chico, Calif./Chico HS) delivered three top-10 performances to lead the swimmers. The senior placed fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.72), 10th in the 50 freestyle (25.54) and eighth in the 200 breaststroke (2:42.47).

Also having a solid day was Madison Krall (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo Centennial HS), who placed seventh in the 500 freestyle after clocking a 5:15.78. The junior followed that up with season-best times in the 400 IM (4:45.71) and 200 butterfly (2:12.17).

Jessell Owens (Winnemucca, Nev./Lowry HS) lowered her season-best times in the 200 fly, finishing in a time of 2:37.39, as well as the 200 backstroke (2:37.90). Additionally, her split in the 200 freestyle relay (30.27) was all the best of the 2010-11 campaign.

Stephanie Ertl (Carmel, Ind./Carmel HS) recorded her best times of the season in the 100 free (58.54), as well as the 50 free (26.51 - relay split). Andrea Kacynski (Superior, Colo./Monarch HS) bettered a pair of season-best performances (500 free - 5:48.70; 400 IM - 5:26.02), as did Shannon Adkins (Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay HS) (200 free - 2:00.72; 28.40 - 50 fly).

Others capturing season-best performances were Gina Vrablik (Chicago, Ill./Loyola Academy) and Kelsey Maguire (New Rochelle, N.Y./Pelham Memorial HS). Vrablik clocked a 28.50 in the 50 freestyle, while Maguire completed the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:26.60.

Pepperdine returns to the Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool on Nov. 17 for the Malibu Diving Invitational. That same weekend, the Waves will also send representatives to the Toshiba Classic in Long Beach, Calif. and the Redlands Diving Invitational in Redlands, Calif.
