This weekend is the second meeting between the Waves and the Redhawks, and the first in Malibu. Pepperdine won the first-ever meet between the two programs 259-75 in Seattle last October, collecting 14 event wins over two days. This also marks the first meeting between Pepperdine and Denver, which is in its first season in the MPSF. Although swimming and diving competes in the MPSF, the weekend has a West Coast Conference feel, with the two most recent conference additions making the trip to Malibu.
Their last time in the pool, the Waves fell 84-59 to San Diego State in an Oct. 15 sprint meet. Freshman Zoe Venetta led Pepperdine in the 50 fly (26.71), and Maile Sullivan was the team's fastest in the 50 free (24.25). In the 1-meter, Taityn Speier scored a team-high 243.30 points.
Next, the Waves split squads. The divers head to USC for the Trojan Diving Invitational (Nov. 12-14), while the swimmers stay home to host UC Santa Barbara and UC San Diego on Nov. 13 at 11 a.m.
