MALIBU, Calif. – Pepperdine swim split the first day of its tri meet at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool on Friday, leading Seattle U 86-62 and trailing Denver 109-39 through 16 events.Â
"It's really special to be able to host two MPSF opponents while the sun is setting here in Malibu," head coach Dan Marella said. "There was a lot we're really proud of tonight, and a lot to work on. Day one was highlighted by a school record by Ansley—coming after she swam the mile. We're looking forward to tomorrow."
Ansley Halbach set the program record in the 400 IM, finishing fourth in 4:26.39. Earlier, Halbach had taken third in the 1650 free (17:14.09), just over a second off her own program record in the event.Â
The Waves closed the night with a win in the 400 free relay. Aliyah Fan, Carlee Davis, Paige Easton and Maile Sullivan touched first in 3:26.60. Sullivan added a second-place finish in the 50 free (23.55), with freshmen Davis (23.87) and Zoe Venetta (24.09) placing fifth and sixth.
In the 50 back, Kate Pelot (26.88) and Sophia Blietz (26.94) finished fourth and fifth, and Chloe Inouye placed fourth in the 50 breast (29.62).Â
