MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine's women's soccer team plays host to the Seattle Redhawks this Thursday at 3 p.m. at Tari Frahm Rokus Field. This match marks the first time these programs have met since Opening Day of the Waves' inaugural 1993 season.

Seattle won that match in overtime, 3-2; however, Pepperdine rebounded to win its next eight home games en route to an impressive 13-4 season. Seattle finished 18-5-1 and was led by senior Julie Woodward, who is now in her 13th year as head coach of the Redhawks.

Both schools have posted a number of winning seasons since then, but the 2009 season has been especially challenging as the Waves and Redhawks enter this week's contest with records hovering around the .500 mark.

Pepperdine at 8-7-1 is in the midst of its longest losing streak of the year at two matches. Following a comeback victory at home over Gonzaga on Oct. 18, Pepperdine slipped on the road, first losing in double overtime to Santa Clara, 1-0, and then dropped a 2-0 decision at San Diego.

The losses eliminated the Waves from any shot at the West Coast Conference title; however, if they win out the season, they'll have posted the program's first winning season since 2006 and finish WCC play at 3-3-1.

One streak that has been in the Waves' favor this year is their continuing run of winning home seasons. Pepperdine, which hasn't registered a losing record at home in its 17-year history, is currently 6-2-1 at Tari Frahm Rokus Field with two contests remaining.

Seattle enter this week's match at 7-9-1, but have scored eight goals over its last three matches and won its last two on the road against Bakersfield (3-1) and UC Santa Barbara (3-2 OT).

Kara Kuttler leads the Redhawks' offense with 23 points on 10 goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Madison Goverde has played every minute in goal this year and has collected 73 saves in addition to four shutouts.

Promotions: All kids 14 and under planning to attend Thursday's match against Seattle can receive a $1.00 off the regular admission price by printing off the flyer on the Pepperdine Women's Soccer Promotion page.
