The win lifted Pepperdine’s record to 4-4-2 and the Bengals dropped to 2-6-2.

Rupp’s offensive showing was only a small part of the Waves’ overall dominance. From front to back, it seemed Pepperdine could do no wrong as it placed 13 of 22 shots on goal and limited the Bengals to seven shots and three corners.
“We’ve been waiting for one of these games,” Pepperdine head coach Tim Ward said. “To have five different people stepping up to score goals means that our kids are taking care of business.”
Pepperdine’s goals were all scored within a 40-minute window between the 43rd and 83rd minutes.
Freshman Laura Cole (Whittier, Calif./La Habra HS) scored first after shaking off pressure inside the 18-yard box, and then with six seconds left in the first half, fellow rookie Melissa Trammell (Yakima, Wash./West Valley HS) tapped back a ball that was heeled by a Bengal defender trying to protect the goal.
Trammell’s stat line for her collegiate debut reads seven minutes played, one shot, one goal, two points. Not a bad way to start one’s career.

It was Wynne’s turn to score a goal in the 67th minute – her second of the season – after she accepted a ball up the middle from Rupp before running through the defense to beat Eves-Williams once again.
Pepperdine continued to pressure the net even with the score at 4-0. In the 82nd minute, defender Haleigh Guertin (
Rupp capped Pepperdine’s scoring run in the 83rd minute by collecting her own deflection off Eves-Williams’ gloves and burying it into the net for her team-leading seventh score of the season.
Rupp leads all Waves with 18 points, which is three more than she had all of last season when she led the club with 15 points. Wynne is second on the team in 2008 with seven points.
“Amanda has invested in herself to become a great player,” Ward said. “She’s reaping a number of awards and the team, overall, is playing better as a result. She is a smart, composed, hard working and physical player.”

Not to be outdone, the Waves’ defense was just as effective as the offense and has posted four shutouts over the last five games in lowering the team’s goals-against average to 1.04.
Additionally, Friday’s shutout marked the 100th in Pepperdine’s 16-year history and the third this season for senior goalkeeper Kayla Stolte (
The Bengals’ loss was their worst of the season as their winless streak was extended to eight games.
“The tough schedule we’ve played so far paid dividends today,” he said. “And while the Bengals may not have been our best opponent, I know they’re a competitive side and have been keeping it close in almost every one of their games.”
