MALIBU, Calif. - The West Coast Conference announced Monday that Pepperdine freshman goalkeeper Lacey Heck was selected as its Women's Soccer Player of the Week.
Heck (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson HS) pitched back-to-back shutouts against #23 Tennessee and Washington State in her first two collegiate starts last Friday and Sunday, totaling seven saves. She made five in a 2-0 win over the Lady Vols and two in a 1-0 triumph against the Cougars.
On the season, Heck sports a 2-1 record and a 0.44 goals against average.
Heck is the first Wave to be selected WCC Player of the Week since Sophia Medina (Downey, Calif./Los Alamitos) was named on Oct. 16, 2006, and the third Pepperdine goalkeeper, joining Kayla Stolte (Santee, Calif./West Hills HS) and Anna Picarelli.
The Waves return to action this weekend with matches Friday and Sunday at Wisconsin and Marquette.
