“It’s a heartbreaker to lose this one because we played fantastic,” Pepperdine Coach Tim Ward said. “We’re obviously bummed about the result.
“Emily played Sophia in, and Sophia stayed composed and slotted it to the far post,” Ward said. “It was a great way to start the game. The first half was some of our best soccer of the season.”
The Broncos (9-3-3, 1-1) got their first goal at 73:17 by Kiki Bosio and their second immediately after that at 74:31 by Brittany Klein.
“The first goal, Kiki dribbled around five or six girls to score a goal,” Ward said. “It was an amazing effort, but we needed to close her down. Right after that, the place was going crazy, and then they scored a really great goal on a header. There was nothing that anyone could do about it.”
The Waves play their second straight road game against a ranked opponent on Sunday (Oct. 21) when they visit #11
