Pepperdine Hosts Fresno Pacific in Exhibition Finale Tuesday Night

Nov. 6, 2006

Malibu, Calif. - The Pepperdine men's basketball team will have its final tune-up before opening its 2006-07 schedule on Tuesday when it hosts Fresno Pacific in an exhibition contest at Firestone Fieldhouse beginning at 7 p.m.

The Waves, under first-year head coach Vance Walberg, opened their two-game exhibition slate last Wednesday and registered a 110-102 overtime victory over Cal Baptist.

Senior guard Marvin Lea led a group of five Pepperdine players in double figures with 20 points. Jason Walberg (19), Chase Griffin (14), Tomas Pranciliauskas (13) and junior center Jarrad Henry, who totaled 12 points, also scored in double figures for the Waves.

Fresno Pacific opened its season on Saturday and fell 63-54 to Fresno State at the Save Mart Center. The NCAA Division I Bulldogs needed a 10-3 run over the final five minutes to pull out the exhibition victory over the NAIA Sunbirds.

Walberg will see a couple familiar faces on the opposite bench as two of his former players from Fresno City College are currently on Fresno Pacific's roster. Junior forwards Adrian Sanchez and Jordan Farley were both members of Walberg's 2005 state championship team.

Following Tuesday's exhibition finale, Pepperdine will have four days to prepare for its season opener against No. 16 Washington in the Basketball Travelers Classic at the Bank of America Arena in Seattle, Washington. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and will be televised live throughout Southern California on FSN Prime Ticket.
