Malibu, Calif. - No. 27 Pepperdine men's tennis (2-1) got back in the win column Saturday morning easily defeating visiting Cal Poly (1-3), 7-0 at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. The Waves were perfect with each singles win coming in two sets.
Doubles play set the tone for the Waves as an 8-4 Pepperdine win in the number three position would be as close as the Mustangs got. The number one seed and 26th-ranked team of Pedro Rico and Scott Doerner handled Cal Poly's top team of Travis Crawford and Davey Jones, 8-2.
In singles action number one Rico defeated Jones 6-2, 6-1 while Doerner won the number two point with a 6-1, 6-3 sweep of Crawford. Senior Alexis Rafidison dropped only two games in his two set win over Adrian Mardyks, 6-1, 6-1.
Ivor Lovrak, Richard Johnson and Kevin Borzenski also recorded straight set victories.
Pepperdine will compete in their second match of the day when the Waves host Santa Clara at 2:00 p.m.
