Sophomore Carolina Llano claimed individual medalist honors and Pepperdine placed four players on the all-conference team as the Waves captured their fourth straight West Coast Conference (WCC) women's golf championship Tuesday afternoon at the par-72, 5,853-yard Riverbend Golf Club in Madera, California.
The Waves, who carded a 54-hole score of 12-over par 876 to register a 27-shot victory over second-place San Francisco, which finished with a 903. Santa Clara (928) and was followed by Gonzaga (945) and Portland (992).
Llano captured individual medalist honors after shooting rounds of 68-71-73 for a 4-under score of 212 and edge San Francisco's Kristi Larson by one shot.
Sophomore Courtney Clark posted her highest career finish as she placed third after carding rounds of 73-76-70 for a 219 total. Freshman Eileen Vargas and junior Rachel Kyono tied for fourth with scores of 224.
Clark, Vargas and Kyono were along with Llano were named all-conference and Vargas was tabbed the WCC's Freshman of the Year.
Pepperdine is off until May 6 when it begins play in the NCAA West Regional Championships at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, California.
