Pepperdine Women Lead WCC Championships After Two Rounds Of Play

The Pepperdine women's golf team shot a second round 3-under par 285 on Monday to claim a 13-shot advantage after two rounds of the West Coast Conference (WCC) Championships being contested at the par-72, 5,853-yard Riverbend Golf Course in Madera, California.

The Waves will seek their fourth straight WCC title when they play the final round Tuesday morning beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Pepperdine opened play with a 1-over par score of 289 and followed that up with a 285 for a 36-hole score of 2-under par 574. San Francisc is in second place with an 11-over par total of 587.

Santa Clara (600) is in third and is followed by Gonzaga (613) and Portland (645).

Individually, Pepperdine sophomore Carolina Llano leads the tournament after shooting rounds of 68 and 71 for a 5-under total of 139. Llano holds a two-shot advantage over San Francisco's Kristi Larson, who is at 3-under 141.

Pepperdine freshman Eileen Vargas (144) is third followed by teammate Rachel Kyono (145). Sophomore Courtney Clark is among a group of four players tied for seventh with a 5-over par score of 149. Junior Maria C. Arenas is in 12th place with a score of 151.
