The Pepperdine women's golf team finished in 11th place at the 14-team Arizona Wildcat Invitational that was played at the par-71, 6,238-yard Arizona National Golf Course in Tucson, Arizona. The Waves shot a final-round score of 309 on Wednesday to finish conclude play with a 54-hole score of 942.
Vanderbilt captured the team title after carding a third-round 2-over par score of 290 to finish the 54-hole event with a 17-over par total of 869. The Commodores registered a four-shot victory over Ohio State, which totaled a 21-over par score of 873. UCLA ((874) placed third and was followed by California (884) and UNLV (897).
Vanderbilt's May Wood captured indivudal medalist honors after shooting a final-round 2-under 69 to finish with a 4-under par total of 209 and claim a three-shot victory over Sophia Sheridan of California. Ohio State's Allison Hanna (214) was third and was followed by Vanderbilt's Courtney Wood (216).
Arizona's Eric Blasberg and UCLA's Hannah Jun tied for fifth place with 4-over par scores of 217.
Junior Rachel Kyono and sophomore Carolina Llano tied for 23rd with 14-over par scores of 227 to lead Pepperdine.
Freshman Eileen Vargas tied for 52nd and sophomore Courtney Clark tied for 75th.
Pepperdine is next in action on Tuesday, March 2, when it opens play in the San Jose State Spartan Invitational at Corral de Tierra Country Club in Monterey, California.
