Rico/Doerner Earn Spot in Main Draw

Chattanooga, Tenn. - The Pepperdine doubles team of Scott Doerner and Pedro Rico won their second qualifying match Wednesday to advance at this week's Icy Hot ITA All-American in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The pair, which did not compete together at all in the 2003-2004 season advanced by defeating Purdue's Robinson/Rose team, 8-4.

Now in the No. 23 position in the main draw of 32, Doerner/Rico will face the team of Andy Formanczyk and Cameron Marshall (Michigan State) Thursday at 3:00 p.m. (PDT). Formanczyk/Marshall got into the main draw despite losing 8-4 in the round of 16 of the qualifying bracket Wednesday.

Rico, who is currently ranked No. 8 by the ITA, will also be in singles action Thursday as he takes on Southern Mississippi's David Canudas (ITA No. 45). Rico's round of 32 main draw singles match will begin at 8:00 a.m. (PST).
