Malibu, Calif. - With Pepperdine's Pedro Rico heading the field, the top five seeds in this week's Wilson/ITA Regional Tennis Championships won their first round matches Thursday at Pepperdine.

Rico defeated Arizona's Paul Warkentin, 6-3, 7-5. Joining Rico in Friday's second round of play will be Wave teammates Alexis Rafidison and Scott Doerner.

Doerner defeated San Diego's Mike Meschede, 6-1, 6-2, while Rafidison won Thursday over Peter Surapol of UCI, 6-3, 7-5. Next up for Rafidison is the tournament's third ranked player, Roger Mantalonga from Arizona.

Singles play continues Friday with second round play at 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. For full results and schedule please see below.
