Former Pepperdine All-Americans and 2003 graduates Katherine Hull and Lindsey Wright earned non-exempt status to the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour beginning in 2004. A third former Wave, Nadina Taylor, who competed for Pepperdine during the 1998-99 season, also earned her Tour card as she gained exempt status for the upcoming season.
All three players qualified after finishing in the Top 73 at the 2003 LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament at the LPGA International's Legends Course in Daytona Beach, Florida, October 21-24.
Taylor tied for 17th place after carding a 72-hole score of 4-under par 284. Hull finished at 1-over par 289, while Wright carded a four-round total of 3-over par 291.
By gaining exempt status, Taylor has priority in getting into tournament fields, while Hull and Wright have second priority.
"I am really proud of all three girls," Pepperdine head coach Laurie Gibbs said. "Qualifying for the LPGA Tour is a grueling process both physically and mentally, and to perform the way they did says a lot about their ability and character."
Wright was a four-time All-American during her career at Pepperdine, while Hull earned All-American honors three times during her career. Both players helped the Waves to their best season ever in 2002-03 as they led the team to its first-ever No. 1 ranking and a second-place finish at last year's NCAA Championships in Indiana.
By virtue of all three players gaining entry onto the LPGA Tour, Pepperdine now has four former student-athletes who have qualified for the Tour. Tamie Durdin, who competed for the Waves from 1998-2000, competed on Tour in 2001.
