From the 2008 Hall of Fame program:

Jeff Stork had quite a run during his Pepperdine volleyball career: three seasons, three All-American first team honors.

Stork, who lettered from 1982-84, was named to NCAA All-Tournament teams in 1983 and 1984 as the Waves earned national runner-up finishes both years. He also made the All-SCIVA first team twice and the second team once. During the 1984 season, Stork finished second on the team in kills (294) and led the squad in hitting percentage (.363), digs (104) and service aces (17).

After his Pepperdine playing days ended, he stuck around to serve as a graduate assistant coach in 1985, a year the Waves won the national championship. He graduated with a degree in physical education in 1985.

Stork would go on to a hugely successful volleyball career. He was a member of U.S. National Team for 10 years (1985-92 and 1995-96). He played in three Olympics, winning goal in Seoul in 1988 and a bronze in Barcelona in 1992. He was the starting setter on the 1988 squad that was coached by Pepperdine’s Marv Dunphy.

In 1985 Stork won a gold medal at the NORCECA Championships and the World Cup, as well as a silver medal in the Savvin Cup. Stork won a gold medal at the World Championships and a silver medal at the Goodwill Games in 1986, and in 1987 he won golds at both the Savvin Cup and the Pan-American Games, as well as a silver at the NORCECA Championships. The same year he was also the co-winner of the Players Award.

In 1990, Stork captured an indoor title in 1990 with Maxicono while playing professionally in Italy, and was named the Italian League MVP with Mediolanum Gonzaga in 1993.  He was a silver-medal winner at the NORCECA Championships in 1991, and won the bronze in the World League in 1992. He also tried his hand at beach volleyball, and was twice named the MVP in the Bud Light 4-Man League, once in 1991 and again in 1994.

In 1998, Stork returned to Malibu to serve as an assistant coach. When Dunphy took time off to become an assistant coach with the U.S. National Team for the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Stork was appointed interim head coach for the 2000 season. Under his direction, the Waves went 22-6, placed first in the MPSF’s Mountain Division and advanced to the NCAA Championships. He returned to his position as assistant coach in 2001.

Stork left Pepperdine to become the head women’s volleyball coach at Cal State Northridge, a position he has held since the 2002 season.

He was honored as part of the USA Volleyball 75th Anniversary All-Era team.

He lives in Topanga, Calif., with wife Sabine and children Matthew, Daniel and Nicoletta.
