Biography
FRESHMAN/2016-2017: Scored 15 individual points in the PCSC Championships … Swam the second fastest 500 free on the year for the Waves with a 5:13.62 at the PCSC Pentathlon … Swam the second fastest 1000 free on the year for the Waves with a 10:48.93 at the PCSC Championships … Swam the second fastest 1650 free on the year for the Waves with a 17:59.06 at the PCSC Championships … Named All-PCSC honorable mention (15th place/1650 free) … Named PCSC Athlete of the Week twice (11/16, 1/11).
HIGH SCHOOL: Swam one year of varsity at Schaumburg Christian High School in Downers Grove, Ill. … Mainly competed in the 200 and 500 free… Won 200 and 500 free at Sectionals her senior year... Was the first athlete from her high school to make the IHSA State Championship… First swimmer to represent her high school in the sport of swimming, as it only became a sport at the school her senior year.
CLUB: Swam for Express Swim team for one year, and Wheaton Swim Club for eight years… While with Wheaton, consistently qualified for JOs and Senior State meets. Normally placed top eight in the 400/500 free, 800/1000 free, and 400 IM.
PERSONAL: Born in Greenwich, Conn. to parents Charles and Michelle Mathys… Older sister to Lindsay… Majoring in creative writing and chemistry, with plans to become a forensic scientist … On coming to Pepperdine, “I chose Pepperdine because I loved the atmosphere on the campus, and the people were so nice and friendly when I visited. It has small, more tightly knit lasses like my high school, so that kind of setting is something I am used to.”
