PEPPERDINE 2014-15: Appeared in two tournaments as a freshman ... Averaged 79.83 strokes in six rounds ... Named to the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll "gold" list and was a Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete.
AMATEUR/JUNIOR GOLF: Had five top-five and 10 top-10 finishes in junior golf ... Won the 2014 JGAA Thompson Invitational after finishing runner-up the year before ... Was also runner-up in the 2013 Arizona Junior Match Play Championship ... Led the 2013 Arizona Men's Amateur Publinks Championships with an opening-round 68 before finishing tied for 14th.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was homeschooled while also taking classes at Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community College ... Played for Chaparral High School during the 2012 and 2013 seasons ... Made the all-city team in 2013 ... Won three regional and two national writing awards.
PERSONAL: Born in Rockville, Md. ... Son of Chuck and Ashley Nam ... Has three siblings: Taylor, Madison and Mason ... His sister, Taylor, is a senior at Pepperdine ... A grandfather ran track at Lehigh ... Chose Pepperdine because "it holds all the key components I want in a school. I believe my golf game will mature the most under Coach Beard and Coach Smith. Pepperdine offers a beautiful campus, a top-notch education and a quality learning environment."
FAVORITES: Favorites include Adam Scott (pro golfer), Augusta National (golf course), Ender's Game (book), Inception (movie), Bizarre Foods (TV show), One Republic (musical artist), Korean, Vietnamese, Thai and seafood (types of food) and basketball (sport other than golf) ... Favorite thing about golf is "it is an extremely challenging sport where not even the best players in the world play well week in and week out. I find golf's difficulty addicting and its nuances fascinating."
